you see that others are practicing, have respect for them and
keep your voices low.

sure that you have the proper workout uniform (Aikido gi &
belt) and that it is always kept clean.

Class
Rules
- After
entering the mat, bow in the direction of O'Sensei's picture.
A standing or kneeling bow is considered appropriate.
- You
may warm up before class, but try to sit quietly for at least
5 minutes before the start of class.
- When
the instructor enters the mat and says line up (or claps his/her
hands), assume the formal seated position in line with the other
students.
- When
the instructor bows to O' Sensei's picture, follow his/her lead
and bow with him/her. Then as he/she faces the class, bow a second
time to show respect for your teacher.
- When
the instructor demonstrates techniques, bow to him/her each time
before assuming practice with a partner.
- When
it is time to learn another technique, the instructor will either
clap his/her hands or announce it. You must then quickly sit down
and watch the next technique. Then bow to the instructor and resume
practice.
- When
you change partners during class, a standing bow to your former
and new partner is in order.
- At
the end of class, resume a formal sitting position. Wait for the
instructor to bow to O'Sensei's picture and bow with him/her.
Then bow to the instructor and remain in the sitting position
until he/she leaves the mat. Then bow to your fellow students.
If you are late to class, kneel
in a formal sitting position at the corner of the mat and bow
to O'Sensei's picture, then wait for the instructor to give you
permission to join the class.
If you must leave the class early, ask the instructor for permission.
