EAGLES LOSE VERO BEACH OPENER

Camden County (Ga.) broke open a close game in the last 5 minutes and defeated Southwest, 79-55, in the opening game of the annual Holiday Hoopla tournament at Vero Beach High School. The Eagles (5-5) trailed by only 5 points with 5 minutes remaining when the Wildcats began to pull away. With just under four minutes left, Southwest was forced to start fouling but Camden County made the free throws. The Eagles, on the other hand, struggled from the charity stripe all night hitting only 14 of 24 foul shots. Southwest also committed 20 turnovers and was beaten on the offensive boards. Michael Juachon had 12 of his game-high 18 points in the first half and Kristian Godoy led the Eagles with 7 rebounds. (Thanks to former Eagle John Shoffner for the game report.)
