A TURNOVER-A-MINUTE IN LOSS
Southwest
committed an astounding 32 turnovers in 32 minutes of basketball while dropping
a 62-46 decision to Jupiter in the loser's bracket of the Vero Beach Holiday Hoopla
tournament. The game was close in the first quarter and things looked good for
the Eagles (5-6) when the Warriors' 6'7" center Ricky Shemanski picked up
3 fouls in the first 2:52 of the first quarter. An Oscar Blanco 3-pointer at the
buzzer ended the first half with Jupiter (8-1) leading, 24-21. The Warriors went
up 37-29 five minutes into the third quarter and extended their margin to 14 with
4:35 left in the game. Southwest never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.
The only thing the Eagles did well was shoot free throws, going 23-for-30 from
the line. Southwest faces Lake City Columbia Tuesday at 3pm for seventh place
in the 8-team tourney.
