EAGLES FINISH REGULAR SEASON ON A WINNING NOTE, 53-43

Southwest overcame a sluggish first half to defeat host Hialeah Gardens, 53-43, in the final regular season game for both teams. The Eagles (16-6) led 21-18 after a slowly paced first half that saw Southwest coach Tom Moore so upset with his team's play that he did not join the players in the lockerroom at halftime. The Eagles, who begin District Tournament play on Wednesday, opened the third quarter with a 9-1 run in the first 2:26 to take an 11 point lead. The closest the Gladiators (12-11) got the rest of the way was a 41-36 deficit with 4:20 remaining in the game. Ray Lleonart and Leo Torres had 5 rebounds each while Gio Gonzalez had 20 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Oscar Blanco had three 3-pointers for Southwest.

JUNIOR VARSITY WIN FINAL GAME

The Southwest junior varsity beat Hialeah Gardens for the second time this season, 61-60. The Baby Eagles, coached by Mike Dearmas, finished their season with a 4-11 record.
