EAGLES FALL IN DISTRICT SEMIS

Southwest, already at a severe height disadvantage, could not overcome a huge free throw differential in a 47-37 loss to South Miami in the semifinals of the District 15-6A tournament at Coral Park. The Eagles finish the season will a record of 11-12, the team's best record in seven years. The Cobras (19-5) led 21-20 at the half but, with a 30-8 advantage in free throws attempted, were able to hold on. The disparity in foul shots led to a rare technical foul being charged to head coach Tom Moore. Michael Juachon and Ray Lleonart both fouled out. The scoring:
Gonzalez 14
Stewart 9
Lleonart 4
Juachon 4
Godoy 2
Vargas 2
Couto 2
