EAGLES WIN A THRILLER

Oscar Blanco's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Southwest a 41-38 victory over host Vero Beach on the second day of the Holiday Hoopla tournament. Blanco's shot, off a pass from Gio Gonzalez, broke a 38-38 tie and advanced Southwest (6- 2) to a 4:30pm game Wednesday in the loser's bracket of the tourney. Vero Beach led 12-8 after one quarter, 20-18 at the half, and 28-25 entering the final quarter. Michael Juachon broke a 36-36 tie with two free throws with one minute remaining, but the Fighting Indians (8-4) answered back to tie the score at 38 and set the stage for Blanco's heroics. Juachon had 7 rebounds and drew 3 charges. Blanco had 3 assists and Gonzalez, Ray Lleonart and Leo Torres all had 5 steals.
